ALL ABOUT BEARS

This past Monday the PreKers were very excited to hear that we will be studying bears for the next several weeks!  They are already learning to identify the eight different species of bears that live around the world - Brown bears, North American black bears, Asiatic black bears, Polar bears, Panda bears, Sloth bears, Sun bears, and Spectacled (aka Andean) bears - and are learning some interesting facts while expanding their bear-related vocabulary. We have many fun activities planned and will keep you informed.

THE 50 BEAR BOOK CHALLENGE

The PreKers are also very excited to be participating in our 50 bear book challenge!  Together we have set a goal of reading 50 books about bears. We are writing a list of all the titles, keeping track of how many are fiction and how many are nonfiction, and counting daily to see how many we have read and how many more we have to go.  

SPECIAL BEAR DAYS

In the next few weeks we will be sending home a notice with some specific requests regarding our unit on bears.  Please help your child remember each of the special tasks they are given. Thanks in advance for your help.

IMPORTANT HALLOWEEN REMINDERS:

Please join us Wednesday, October 31st at 8:30 AM for our annual TCS Halloween Parade!

1. All children should be dressed in costume and in class by 8:15 so we have time to prepare and get organized as a class. Please leave all masks and weapons at home.
2. Immediately following drop-off parents are invited to head directly to the ellipse and wait inside it for the parade to begin. We will leave the Clark House, head up to the flagpole, and then take them clockwise around the ellipse until they reach the courtyard where they will then continue directly into the gym.
3. Parents and siblings are all invited to attend our Lower School Radio Show - Halloween edition - in the gym immediately following the parade.
4. Please have your child’s change of clothes in a LABELED bag with their backpack, as we will help them change immediately following our Lower School Radio Show.
5. If you signed up to bring food, drinks, or paper goods for our special snack, please bring them all directly to the classroom Wednesday morning at arrival time.
6. PLEASE DO NOT SEND IN THEIR REGULAR SNACK.

A reminder that TCS is having an OPEN HOUSE this Sunday, October 28th from 1:00 - 3:30.  If you know anyone interested in learning more about The Country School please tell them to visit!
