March 10th-April 5th

PreK Press
March 10th - April 5th

Welcome Back:  Some of our favorite days in PreK are those when we have just returned to school after being away from each other for a couple of weeks.  It is fun to see how excited the children are to be back together as they exchange stories, share in conversations, and become completely immersed in the play and learning that happens daily in PreK.  We welcome your children back with open arms and trust that you all had a wonderful vacation.

Dinosaurs in Full Swing:  Since our return, we have continued our study of dinosaurs and having been working on many different projects and activities including easel painting dinosaurs, Pterodactyl crayon wash pictures, making our own Stegosauruses, decorating our Stegosaurus hats, clapping out the syllables of many dinosaur names, designing our own dinosaur skeletons, and coloring concept pages for our dinosaur books. The list goes on and on. You will get to see everything at our upcoming Celebration of Learning.

Date for Celebration of Learning - Dinosaurs:  We are in the process of finalizing the date for our early morning Celebration of Learning - Dinosaurs and will let you know as soon as it is definite.

PreK Talents:  As many of you know, one of our favorite opportunities for PreKers is when they share their talents with Reading Buddies. Last week we started off with Maria sharing her talent and knowledge of gold, Felix shared his interest in one of his Harry Potter books and demonstrated a little magic that went along with it, and Harper donned his magicians hat, opened up his suitcase of magic tricks and shared some of them with us. They all did a wonderful job! We will continue to send home an individual notice in each lunchbox so you know exactly what date your child will be sharing. As always, please ask if you have any questions.

Pizza Day:  Please be sure to send in an alternative lunch selection or at least a couple of snacks and/or desserts on pizza day even if your child is signed up for pizza.
TCS Family Dance:  Here is one last reminder about tonight’s big event. Copied below is the email that was sent home to you earlier this week.

Hello PreK parents,

Please join us for the 2019 Family Luau Dance!

Free of charge and hosted by the PTA, we welcome all families in grades preschool and up to join the fun.

Remember to wear your favorite sunglasses and Hawaiian shirts.

Sandwiches and light refreshments will be served.

All students must be accompanied by an adult.

TSC School Musical:  Please plan on coming to the annual TCS musical.  This year the play is MARY POPPINS, JR. and there are performances scheduled for both Saturday, April 13th from 5:00 - 7:30 and Sunday, April 14th from 2:00 - 4:30. Always a great experience, you won’t want to miss it!

TCS Spring Gala:  As you are already aware, the TCS annual auction/fundraiser is coming up on Saturday, April 27th at The New Haven Country Club.  This event is always a lot of fun and certainly a worthy cause. We hope you will be able to attend. Come out and enjoy a great evening!  The PreKers have all contributed to a wonderful piece of artwork that will be available for purchase at the auction and we think that you might want it to hang in your home!  We also know that you have generously contributed to the Class Auction Basket and we thank you for that.

TCS Blood Drive:  Please consider participating in our first blood drive here at TCS! It will take place on Friday, May 3rd from 1:00 - 6:00 PM in the gym. The sheet with additional specific information was sent home with your child earlier this week. We are hoping for a big turnout and your contribution would be greatly appreciated!

Grandparents and Special Friends Day:  Friday, May 10th will be a very special day here at TCS! Many volunteers are needed to help make this morning run smoothly so please reach out to anyone on the GSFD committee for more information on how you can help.

Box Tops for Education:  Please continue to collect your Box Tops for Education and add them to our collection container immediately outside our classroom. Thank You!
